Shopping Cart Refurbishment Program

Not every cart replacement has to mean a brand-new purchase. Through our partnership with Cox Sales & Service, SEMS offers a comprehensive cart refurbishment program that restores aging or worn carts to like-new condition at a fraction of the cost of new equipment. The Cox recoat process is thorough and uncompromising: every cart begins with full disassembly — seats, handles, wheels, casters, bumpers, and safety belts are all removed — before the frame is dipped in a heated, fluidized sand bed that strips it completely down to bare metal. Any structural defects are addressed at this stage through welding and straightening, ensuring that every refurbished cart leaving the facility is sound from the frame out, not just the surface in.

Once the frame is clean and repaired, it undergoes metal bead blasting to add surface texture for maximum coating adhesion, followed by a five-stage cleaning process before the first of two powder coat layers is applied. A primer coat is heat cured, then a final finish coat is applied and heat cured again — bonding both layers for a durable, long-lasting result. All new accessories are then installed, including fresh wheels, casters, handles, seats, and ASTM-certified child safety belts. The end result is a cart that looks and performs like new, with a finish built to stand up to the daily demands of commercial retail use. For fleet operators looking to extend the life of their existing carts, reduce capital expenditures, and maintain a clean, consistent store appearance, the Cox refurbishment program is one of the smartest investments available.
